Hi, I'm Kristin — a southern Appalachian hippie that loves playing in dirt and growing trees to hug. I've grown up in these mountains my whole life, and they've shaped everything about who I am and what I create.
It all started with my grandparents. They were part of The Greatest Generation — after my grandpa came home from the war, they found themselves a couple of secluded acres and started homesteading. By the time I came around, the animals were gone, but there were still several large gardens, grapevines, fruit trees, and granny's beloved flower beds.
"I was my granny's 'little heathen' — always outside and always dirty. She always meant it as a term of endearment. I remember her patting my head and calling me that with the biggest grin on her wrinkled face."
I didn't get as much time with them as I now wish I had. I doubt many of us do. But I've taken those memories and built on them. Those roots run deep in everything I grow and make.
