Our Appalachian Story

"A small slice of a beautiful big ol' pie."

A little home-based shop in the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee — where an old-world apothecary met a modern homestead.

The Story

Hi, I'm Kristin — a southern Appalachian hippie that loves playing in dirt and growing trees to hug. I've grown up in these mountains my whole life, and they've shaped everything about who I am and what I create.

It all started with my grandparents. They were part of The Greatest Generation — after my grandpa came home from the war, they found themselves a couple of secluded acres and started homesteading. By the time I came around, the animals were gone, but there were still several large gardens, grapevines, fruit trees, and granny's beloved flower beds.

"I was my granny's 'little heathen' — always outside and always dirty. She always meant it as a term of endearment. I remember her patting my head and calling me that with the biggest grin on her wrinkled face."

I didn't get as much time with them as I now wish I had. I doubt many of us do. But I've taken those memories and built on them. Those roots run deep in everything I grow and make.

I truly believe I married the love of this life. Going on 18 years together, two wonderful teens, and a small homestead tucked in a little holler of Appalachia. My husband helps keep everything running — it's very much a family operation.

We don't have many neighbors, but when the ones nearby forget to close the gate, their goats and horses wander into our yard. They know I always have treats for them. It's loud, it's alive, and it is absolutely home.

Feeding on the homestead

I try hard to locally source all of my natural ingredients and grow most of my own herbs. My culinary and medicinal herbs are growing all over the place — and I am always adding more. Every product in this shop came from these hands, this land, and this love.

What We Believe In
🌿 Locally Sourced

We grow most of what we use right here on our Appalachian homestead. What we can't grow, we source as locally as possible.

✨ Small Batch

Every item is made in small batches so nothing sits on a shelf for months. Fresh, intentional, handcrafted with care.

🌿 Organic First

We use organic and/or home-grown herbs and botanicals whenever possible. Each listing notes exactly what's organic.

🏠 Rooted in Tradition

Inspired by generations of Appalachian herbalism and homesteading. These mountains have been home to plant wisdom and self-sufficient living for centuries — we carry that forward with deep respect for the old ways, the old remedies, and the people who passed them down.

🌿 Respect for Nature

We believe in working with nature, not against it. From caring for our animals and tending our gardens to harvesting herbs and flowers, we strive to be mindful stewards of the land and the living things that share it with us.

📌 Transparency & Connection

We believe people should know where their products come from. Through our Harvest Notes, Homestead Journal, and ingredient sourcing, we share the story behind what we make — from seed and harvest to finished product.
